CoolHi Amy,

It was a pleasure meeting you and your family.

Well, it didn't take long at all to come up with the official name.  Puppy #2 is now formally known as "Tripper" or "Trip" for short.  The origin comes from his love to walk between your legs and be "under foot" as you walk.  Within 15 minutes of being home, he managed to trip everybody including Reese!

Tripper has already adjusted!  He fell in love with my son on the way home and slept in his arms most of the way.  We brought him inside with his box that he road in and set the box with him in it on the floor.  Reese came up and sniffed a couple of times and walk away.  The cat (Shadow) came up with his tail fluffed and gave a hiss and walked away.  We all laughed saying what a cold reception - but it didn't phase Tripper.  He awkwardly climbed out of the box and went over to Andrew and laid down at his feet.  The rest of the day he spent following each of us around the house.  He's already catching on to "potty training" and has figured out that his food dish next to Reese's.  He didn't cry too much last night - although he did wake up around 2 am and I had to sleep on the floor next to him with my arm around him (my neck is a little sore today!).

Surprisingly, Shadow has been pretty good and kept his distance watching the pup from various perching points above.  Reese on the other hand, doesn't want a thing to do with him just yet.  She avoids, and in fact, runs from Tripper!  I don't think she is afraid, but she is keeping her distance.  Poor Trip has tried several times to make friends, but Reese is not ready to go there - so much for that motherly instinct - LOL.  Cheryl and I are making a point to give her extra attention and not let Trip dominate our time - I'm sure things will smooth out in time.

Anyway,  Tripper Urban is very happy and acts as though hes always been part of the family.  There is no way we could have made a better choice.  In fact, if you recall, we didn't make the choice - a great testimony that you can't go wrong when you let God make your decisions.

Thanks and photos will follow in days to come,

Keith

CoolHi. I thought I would send you a email to let you know how Gabriel is getting along. He's doing very well. He's adjusting well, he eats alot and when his bowl is empty he goes looking in Tye's . He loves our little doxie Weenie, although he's bigger than she is and does get a little rough playing. Tye is very interested in him. We have a small hallway that leads of the dining room, so we cleaned everything out and bought a dog gate and he sleeps in there. The first night Tye stayed by the gate all night. They lick each other through the gate, and Allen thinks Tye is trying to mother him, but he's so small I still haven't let Tye have full access to him. We are just taking it very slow. Mic is unsure of him. He's a real terror to toes and fingers. He chews on everything. He really likes to play on the bed, and when he gets tired he sprawls out and goes to sleep. We bought a little coller and leash and have been working on leash skills when he goes out to the bathroom. He's been progressing on his potty training as well. He doesn't go in his little room, and when he goes outside he seems to understand the word potty. He's also learning his name. He wags his tail when we tell him what a good boy he  is after he goes potty. Well I just wanted to let you know, you were all kinda mom and dad too and probably worried about how he was doing.  Take care and I hope Princess didn't miss him too much. Melissa and Family
